ML AIR Branding

When I set out to create the branding for ML Air Operations, I knew it had to feel bold, vintage, and unmistakably tied to the spirit of “war bird” aviation. The project is for a private airstrip that services vintage military aircraft — so it needed to strike the right balance between rugged and professional, while giving a nod to history without feeling outdated.

I started by designing a clean, modern monogram using the initials “ML”, giving the “L” a bold, commanding presence, almost like a runway or control tower silhouette. To tie it back to aviation visually, I incorporated a small vintage fighter plane taking off right from the “L” — a subtle but powerful symbol of what the airfield is all about.

For the overall style, I kept everything minimal: black and white, crisp lines, and plenty of breathing room. It feels almost military in its simplicity, but still accessible and modern. The fonts are slightly mechanical and utilitarian — again tying back to the era when these warbirds were the kings of the sky.

The end result is something that feels tough, timeless, and tailored to the unique world ML Air Ops lives in. It gives the brand a strong first impression without getting in the way of the incredible machines it supports.
